ABOUT ME

Some sort of Biography

Hi!

My name is Oskar Reuter and I'm a musician and a guitar teacher based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I play a bunch of different plucked string instrument but my main instruments are guitar and mandolin. A couple of years ago I fell in love with open guitar tunings so nowadays I almost never play guitar with standard tuning.
My main focus musically is Nordic traditional and contemporary music but I play many different kinds of acoustic music.

The last couple of years I have been working with my own bands (you can find them here) and as a musician at Västanå teater that is a great theatre in Sunne, Sweden.
I also work with a lot of different kinds of projects and bands, both with live performances and in studios. The possibility to meet and play with new people from all around the world is one of the best things about being a musician.
You can see some of the recordings I've done here and concert dates here.

I started out as a guitar student at the local music school and my guitar teacher Mats was one of my first musical heroes.  He led me into jazz and introduced me to one of my other musical heroes Pat Metheny. After graduating from the gymnasium in Gislaved I studied jazz guitar at two different schools before I started at the University of Gothenburg in 2004.

In 2005 I met Jonathan Larsson (member of Goodland trio)
and we became great friends. He introduced me to the Swedish traditional fiddle music and it didn't take long before I was hooked. Around that same time I started to play mandolin in a bluegrass band called Downtown Ramblers so I had less and less time to play jazz. I still love jazz music but I just never play it in public anymore....maybe someday I'll start again.

2010 I got my bachelor's degree in music at the University of Gothenburg and 2015 I finally graduated from my teacher studies. So now I work part time playing shows and part time teaching and I'm having a great time doing so.

Finally, I'm glad that you somehow found my website and I hope you'll like it.

Please send me an e-mail if you have any thoughts or questions.
I hope we'll meet in the real world someday soon.

Take care!
/Oskar
